An executive of Asahi Kasei Plastics, a Japanese supplier of plastic compounds, revealed the company has plans to set up a new production facility to manufacture high performance materials in Mexico, due to the growth of the automotive industry in this region.

Victor Mora, Director of the company in Mexico, affirmed that there are two zones of interest, the Bajio and the Coahuila-Nuevo Leon zone. The official estimated a US$ 20 million investment will be required in order to start operations.

Mr. Mora affirmed that 80% of sales in Asahi Kasei are focused on the automotive industry (tier 1 and tier 2 clients), and the home appliances, power tools, and furniture sector, among others.
