Audi plant in Puebla exceeds production goal in 2017

Having met the annual production goal of the Q5 SUV in advance, Audi workers in Puebla were granted an additional day off in January, a union leader revealed to local media in recent days.

According to Alvaro Lopez Vazquez, head of the local union, the German automaker set a goal of 150,000 SUV manufactured at the assembly facility in San Jose Chiapa, Puebla. However, the plant built 158,000 units in 2017, that’s 5.3% more than planned.

On September 30, 2016, Audi inaugurated its Mexican facility where it builds the Q5 for the global market. The SUV is Audi’s best-selling model in the U.S. with 57,640 units sold in 2017, a 16.3% increase in sales compared to the previous year.
