1,513,334 vehicles made in Mexico were exported to other countries from January to June 2017, that is 14% up compared to 2016, thus reaching the highest increase in 5 years. According to the Mexican Association of the Automotive Industry (AMIA), this is due to a 15.6% upturn in vehicle shipments to the U.S., a market that represents 76.8% of the total volume of vehicles exported by Mexico. About brands from Asia, Mexican exports saw great benefit due to a change in the operation of KIA and Toyota, which were sending cars from Japan and South Korea (to the U.S.) but now they are exporting from their facilities in Mexico.
