LERMA — The leading supplier of safety belts and airbags, Autoliv, announced that it will expand its plant in Lerma; said expansion will generate 1000 direct and 2,500 indirect jobs.

The event was attended by the governor of the State of Mexico, Alfredo del Mazo, who highlighted the legal certainty, infrastructure and security that these investments allow.

Autoliv has invested more than US $ 63 million in expanding its operations in Lerma since 2017, with the aim of doubling its production from 25 to 45 million seat belts per year.

It is expected that by 2020, Autoliv will reach said goal; currently its annual sales amount to US$ 500 million, accounting for 38% of the global seatbelt market.
