Automotive sector gains terrain from total exports

The automotive industry in Mexico reached 34.3% of total manufacturing exports during the first bimester of 2017. This means that the participation of the automotive industry has increased by over 10% out of the total manufacturing exports over the last five years. Eduardo Solis, President of the Mexican Association of the Automotive Industry (AMIA), remarked that the contribution from this sector in 2012 used to be 23%. Last February, the automotive commercial balance increased its 3.5% annual surplus, to total US$4.13 billion.
