Nuevo Leon seeks to attract 11 automotive projects for US$ 508 million

The government of Nuevo Leon announced that it currently works on 11 projects to attract manufacturing operations and services focused on the automotive sector, which in the event of materializing will involve investments of US$ 508 million.

The secretary of Economy and Labor, Fernando Turner Davila, said in a statement that at the moment it is not possible to reveal the names of the companies that have expressed interest in investing in Nuevo Leon, due to the confidentiality policies.

The official said that currently 22% of the prospects with which the state works to attract Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) are from the automotive field. In addition, this sector contributed a third of the US$ 36.2 billion in products that the state exported during the past year, period in which 70,000 people worked for this industry.

Among the biggest companies of the automotive sector with operations in Nuevo Leon are Kia, Metalsa, Frisa, Denso, Navistar, Gonher, Johnson Controls, Nemak, Takata, Ternium, Vitro, Mobis, Rassini, Cifunsa and Yazaki.
