Avery Dennison inaugurates plant in Querétaro

QUERETARO - Avery Dennison, the leading smart label company, has officially started operations at its new plant in Querétaro, with an investment of more than US$179 million.

This facility, located in the Finsa III Industrial Park, will generate 938 direct jobs, strengthening the industrial sector in the region. The project represents another step towards the consolidation of Querétaro as a hub for innovation and technological development.

During the inauguration, the governor of Querétaro, Mauricio Kuri González, highlighted the importance of attracting companies with a focus on sustainability and social responsibility.

"We want companies that are fully human, profitable for Mexico and exemplary for the country. We assure Avery Dennison that it will not be alone on this path of growth in Querétaro," said the governor.

The Avery Dennison plant is the largest in the company's global network, occupying 25,000 square meters of construction on a 50,000 square meter site.

According to Roger Machado, vice president of Operations and Supply Chain, the plant will operate with three shifts and will move towards Industry 4.0, integrating technologies such as artificial intelligence and automation to improve production efficiency and flexibility.

This will enable the company to offer high-quality customized products and monitor market needs in real time.

Julie Vargas, vice president and general manager of Identification Solutions, highlighted Avery Dennison's nearly 90-year track record in materials innovation, noting that the company is a pioneer in the development of RFID technology, with more than 1,500 patents.

This breakthrough enables products to be uniquely identified throughout the supply chain, improving traceability and reducing resource waste.

Francisco Melo, president of Avery Dennison, called the opening of the plant a crucial milestone for the company, which now leads the smart label sector.

'This facility reinforces our commitment to the future of our industry and our vision of a world where every product has a digital identity,' Melo said.

The plant will not only supply Mexico, but will also cover the needs of North America, Central and South America, and the rest of the world. It will also contribute to the state's decarbonization efforts, aligning with the circular economy policies promoted by Querétaro.
