Mexico occupies the fifth position in cargo traffic with Avianca Cargo, as 1.4% of the Airline's total traffic during the first months of the year was transported into Mexico and 1.7% of the total volume operated by the Company was transported from Mexico, thus positioning this Country's cargo exchange rates directly under those from regions like North America, South America, Central America and Europe. "Avianca Cargo moved 751 tons with Mexico destination during the first months of the year; during this same period, 917 tons were transported from Mexico", explains Victor Mejia, Avianca Cargo VP. The Director of the Cargo Division of this Colombian Airline adds that the exchange of merchandise from Mexico is generated especially in the pharmaceutical and auto parts sector; on the other hand, bullet-proof glass, confectionery, medications, live animals, oil equipment, crafts and all type of plastics are the main products transported from Latin America.
