Chinese corporation BAIC started assembling vehicles in Mexico, in order to skip customs duties for vehicle import, explained Patrick Yang, Director of the brand in Mexico. Car components have been imported from China since April, to complete the assemble process of roughly 250 units in a factory in Veracruz. Besides, the customs duty for importation is 20% and for this reason, the company is looking to assembly locally to have competitive costs, expecting to assemble 500 cars a month.
