Bajio Could Implement AI and 5G Infrastructure
At the recent Asia-Mexico Tech Summit 2026, discussions focused on the integration of AI and 5G networks into the competition among industrial regions for new investments. The fact is that these regions no longer depend solely on roads, energy, land, or logistics infrastructure, but also on the integration of connectivity, data centers, 5G networks, and artificial intelligence (AI).
Celaya is one of the 15 Economic Development Hubs for Well-being promoted by the federal government as part of the Mexico Plan.
The Puerta Logística Del Bajío project covers 52 hectares and is home to advanced manufacturing, logistics, agribusiness, information technology, and business services, as well as the automotive and aerospace industries.
The digitization of these activities brings new demands, as automated industrial processes, cloud services, real-time information exchange, and machine-to-machine communication require telecommunications infrastructure with greater capacity.
The Bajío region seeks to capitalize on the relocation of production chains and strengthen the participation of local suppliers in activities with a higher technological content.
The challenge for Celaya will be to integrate its logistics infrastructure with new digital capabilities.
On the other hand, the Asia-Mexico Tech Summit—organized by the municipality of Celaya through the Tourism Council and with the support of the Guanajuato Ministry of Tourism—brought together technology companies, specialists, government officials, academic institutions, and representatives from the private sector.
