Bilateral relationship of Baja California is highlighted in Los Angeles Business Forum

LOS ANGELES, CA - During his participation as a speaker at the California-Mexico Business Forum, the Secretary of Economy and Innovation of Baja California, Kurt Honold Morales, highlighted the excellent relationship with the United States.

Honold highlighted the entrepreneurial and business ties with California and the great opportunities that exist by strengthening relations between Baja California businessmen and their counterparts in Los Angeles. 

The event was held on December 3rd and 4th at the Official Residence of Mexico and the US Bank Tower.

Baja California was a featured guest and Kurt Honold participated as a panelist during the Inauguration along with Maria Salinas, President of the Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce; Fernando Sepulveda, leader of the Mexican Businessmen Association Los Angeles Chapter and the Consul General of Mexico in that city, Carlos Gonzalez Gutierrez, who welcomed the event that brought together business, innovation and policy leaders.

The main topics were bilateral relations under the new leadership in Mexico and the United States, opportunities for nearshoring and cross-border financing, innovation and emerging technologies, building bridges through education and sports as drivers of the economy, among others.

For the sports topic, Baja California was represented by the Presidents of Club Tijuana Xoloitzcuicles, Club Aguilas de Mexicali and Toros de Tijuana. In the case of nearshoring, Alejandro Bustamante, President of Plantronics Mexico, was present.

To address educational collaboration was Fernando Leon, Cetys Rector, and Araceli Sosa from the Department of Academic Cooperation of UABC.

Secretary Honold presented the investment and business opportunities in Baja California, highlighting that the State promotes the strengthening of infrastructure linked to competitiveness such as border crossings, the Port of Punta Colonet and Viaducto Elevado, as well as water management projects.

He also explained the talent training strategy for key industries such as semiconductors, electromobility, creative industries and life sciences, pointing out the collaboration with the main universities in the state, leading companies and also the agreements with academic institutions in California and Arizona.
