Bimbo to renew its electric fleet in Mexico

Grupo Bimbo will invest more than US$2 billion in Mexico between 2025 and 2028 as part of a strategy to modernize, sustain, and strengthen its operational infrastructure in seven states across the country.
The announcement was made during the morning conference at the National Palace, led by President Claudia Sheinbaum. José Manuel González Guzmán, CEO of Bimbo Mexico, explained that the investment includes the modernization of more than 30 production plants, as well as the expansion of its electric delivery fleet, considered the largest in Mexico and Latin America.
“The investment will allow us to continue advancing in the electrification of our fleet, promote the circular economy with sustainable packaging, and strengthen our alliances with Mexican farmers,” said González Guzmán.
According to the company, the plan will generate 2,000 direct jobs and more than 10,800 indirect jobs. Currently, 97% of the inputs used by Bimbo come from domestic suppliers, which contributes to the strengthening of local production chains.
The entities that will receive part of this investment are Baja California (Mexicali and Tijuana), Yucatán (Mérida), Mexico City (Azcapotzalco), Nuevo León (Salinas Victoria), Querétaro (El Marqués), Puebla (Puebla), and the State of Mexico (Toluca and Lerma).
The project is part of the company's commitment to using 100% renewable energy, technological innovation, and social development in the communities where it operates. Bimbo also actively participates in various initiatives promoted by the federal government, such as Plan Mexico, the Anti-Inflation and Scarcity Package (PACIC), the Water Security Agreement, and the “Made in Mexico” campaign.
