BMW Group plans to formally start production of its 3 Series sedan in Mexico in the first quarter of 2019 and for this purpose, the German automaker plans to start production tests on September 24, said in recent days the president of the San Luis Potosi plant, Hermann Bohrer, to a small group of visitors.

The date was revealed during a tour in which it could be seen that the construction of the facilities is practically finished, so now the efforts are focused on finishing the installation of machinery and tools. "Although there have been some setbacks, the works are still on route according to plan," said the manager.

The plant will have the capacity to produce 150,000 vehicles per year with the flexibility to create thousands of equipment combinations and with the specifications to be exported to 124 countries.

Meanwhile, the Vice President of Logistics, Karl-Friedrich Koch, said that Mexico already has a good reputation in terms of automotive manufacturing, so they are confident in achieving what they call "the Mexican excellence" to build cars with the same quality of those made in Germany.
