Thermal processing services provider Bodycote announced that its plant in Silao, Guanajuato received from General Motors the Supplier Quality Excellence Award for the 2016 award year.

Suppliers who receive this award have met or exceeded a very stringent set of quality performance criteria as determined by cross-functional teams across the entire GM organization.

Bodycote’s Silao facility provides Low Pressure Carburizing (LPC) and nitriding services to General Motors’ Silao Transmission Operations for transmission gears.

Dan McCurdy, President of Bodycote’s North America & Asia Automotive & General Industrial division, noted that this award reflects the hard work and attention to detail of Bodycote’s team: “Consistency in high levels of quality and service is our aim, every day. That we achieve this consistency in quality and service is evidenced by this recognition as a top performing supplier. This means a lot to our Silao team and we are proud of their achievement.”

This Bodycote’s second Supplier Quality Excellence Award. In 2016, its Livonia, Michigan plant received the same recognition for the 2015 award year.

Bodycote is the world’s largest provider of thermal processing services. Through heat treatment, metal joining, surface technology and Hot Isostatic Pressing (HIP), Bodycote improves the properties of metals and alloys, extending the life of vital components for a wide range of industries, including aerospace, defense, automotive, power generation, oil & gas, construction, medical and transportation.
