Boosting the medical device industry

The Federal Commission for Protection against Health Risks (COFEPRIS), underscored that this sector is a propeller for the economy, since Mexico is the largest exporter of medical devices in Latin America, with production of over US$15 billion. According to Julio Sanchez, Federal Commissionaire of COFEPRIS, this office is committed to maintain the health of the population and at the same time, it is a business catalyzer for the medical industry. He added that this industry generates over 130,000 jobs and strengthens Mexico's potential as an exporter of medical technologies. Sanchez said that COFEPRIS' strategy to promote medical devices includes expediting license renewal process times and reducing response times for formalities.
