CAMPECHE – The oil company BP Exploration México will invest US $ 97 million in Campeche as part of the exploration plan for the shallow water contract where it plans to drill a well. According to what was approved in the 34th Extraordinary Session of the National Hydrocarbons Commission (CNH), 74% of the resources will be allocated to drilling a well and 12% for general expenses.

Meanwhile, 7.0% of the investment will be allocated to geophysics; 4.0% to safety, health and environmental issues; and 3.0% to the geology field.

The general director of Dictamenes de Exploración, Rodrigo Hernández Ordoñez, explained that the field is 168 kilometers west of Campeche and 130 kilometers northwest of Ciudad del Carmen.

According to Hernandez Ordoñez, the plan has as objective to continue evaluating the potential of hydrocarbons in this area, because there are some wells drilled, as well as the possible incorporation of reserves in case of  having a successful  drilling.
