Matcor Matsu, a Canadian manufacturer of metal stampings for body-in-white, interior and seating applications, broke ground last week at the Amistad Aeropuerto Industrial park in Ramos Arizpe, Coahuila, to build a 247,000 square feet plant.

According to local media, the company plans to invest US$ 90 million and create 550 permanent jobs to build seating and panel structures for General Motors and Fiat Chrysler Automobiles.

The Ramos Arizpe facility will be Matcor Matsu’s fourth operation in Mexico. According to its website the company already operates two manufacturing facilities of 126,000 and 69,000 square feet in Saltillo and a 90,000 square feet plant through a joint venture.

The facility is scheduled to become fully operational by July 2018.
