++nissan++ Nissan will assemble a new model in Mexico

Detroit.- Nissan announced a new vehicle will be produced in the company’s plant at Aguascalientes, starting in the second quarter of 2013.
It will be the new model Note, a 5-door multi-purpose vehicle presented in Detroit Auto Show on January 15. 
With this announcement, Mexico joins the company’s plants in Thailand, India and China, which will also produce this vehicle.

The car will be assembled in the same platform as Nissan March and Versa; it is part of the US$600 million investment announced for 2009-2013 term to assemble these three vehicles in Aguascalientes.

Jose Luis Valls, President and CEO, Nissan Mexicana, said that this vehicle will be launched in the second quarter of this year as the 2014 model, strengthening Nissan’s compact cars portfolio in the Mexican market.

To manufacture this product, an agreement was reached with suppliers in Aguascalientes to have 80% of local contents. 
Armand Avila, Manufacture Vice-president for Nissan Mexicana, said that Mexico is a strategic place for automobiles assembly in the region.
