Chihuahua participates in international mining convention in Toronto
TORONTO, CA – Authorities from the Ministry of Innovation and Economic Development and the Chihuahua Mining Cluster are actively participating in the international mining convention Prospectors & Developers Association of Canada (PDAC), held in the city of Toronto, Canada.
The main objective of the state’s participation in this event is to hold business meetings and make known the competitive advantages of Chihuahua’s mining industry at an international level.
The SIDE highlighted that during the convention, visitors to the Chihuahua stand have had the opportunity to see the Bolivar mining unit of Diabras Mexicana through virtual reality glasses. In addition, there has been an exhibition of Chihuahua handicrafts, promoting the state’s culture and talent.
The Mexican pavilion at PDAC 2024 includes the participation of the Mexican Geological Survey, the state governments of Sonora and Baja California Sur, and the Consulate General of Mexico in Toronto. Chihuahua’s participation in this important event consolidates its position as a relevant player in the mining industry at an international level.
It is worth noting that, according to data from the Center for Economic and Social Information (CIES), Chihuahua is the fourth Mexican state with the highest mining production, with an accumulated production value of 44,298 million pesos as of December 2023. This represents 11.50% of the national total, which places Chihuahua as a leader in this sector.
Additionally, Chihuahua is the second largest producer of silver, fourth of copper and fifth of gold in Mexico. These figures demonstrate the state’s enormous potential for mining investment.
Chihuahua’s participation in PDAC 2024 is a demonstration of the state’s commitment to the development of the mining industry. This participation seeks to attract investment, generate jobs and strengthen Chihuahua’s position as a leader in this sector nationally and internationally.
