Chihuahua seeks positioning in Taiwan as a hub for investment in the electronic industry

CHIHUAHUA - In the last three years, the electric-electronic industry has invested around US$2 billion in the state of Chihuahua, mainly in the semiconductor manufacturing sector, which is why Governor María Eugenia Campos Galván is on a working tour of Taiwan, with the aim of strengthening relations with Asian companies located in the state.

One of the objectives, as detailed by Chihuahua's Ministry of Innovation and Economic Development (SIDE), is to develop supply chains related to chips and circuit boards to improve the state's competitiveness.

As part of the working tour, Campos visited Foxconn's facilities in Taipei, where he highlighted the strength of the state's economy, the competitiveness of its people and its potential to continue growing as a whole.

In the state, important companies of the electronics industry, mainly from that Asian country, employ more than 121 thousand people, with the Taiwanese Cluster in Juarez responsible for the production of half of the servers of companies such as Amazon, Meta, Microsoft and Google.

In addition, Chihuahua's labor force manufactures all of the personal computers that companies such as Dell and HP sell worldwide.

The electric-electronic industry, in semiconductor matters and particularly in the part of last generation servers of artificial intelligence, has generated close to 20 thousand jobs in the last three years in the state.

Campos pointed out that the state has installed capacity that offers competitive advantages and high potential for integration in the semiconductor industry's value chain processes, such as component manufacturing, assembly processes, materials supply, semiconductor manufacturing and design centers.

Chihuahua is the national leader in the export of electronic products, with more than 37 percent of the total, which is why Campos' intention is to attract investment and strengthen relations with companies in the aerospace and semiconductor industries.
