Chihuahua stands as national leader in Innovation and Economy

CHIHUAHUA - According to the State Competitiveness Index (ICE) 2024 prepared by the Mexican Institute for Competitiveness (IMCO), the state of Chihuahua stood out in areas such as Foreign Direct Investment and Merchandise Exports.

The study details that the synergy and collaboration between the public and productive sectors, placed the state of Chihuahua as a leader in the Innovation and Economy category.

The state recorded progress in indicators such as Gross Domestic Product (GDP) growth, Merchandise Exports, GDP per capita, Patents, Economic Diversification and Foreign Direct Investment, according to the document.

In addition, according to INEGI figures, Chihuahua is the leader in the value of exports with an accumulated 69 billion dollars.

In the first places of this sub-index are also the states of Nuevo León, which ranked second; Coahuila in third place; Baja California in fourth place; and Mexico City ranked fifth.

The ICE 2024 results also positioned Chihuahua in the Top 10 of the most competitive states in the country, as it also ranked first in areas such as wastewater treatment and access of the population to health institutions, among others.

This study evaluates the main characteristics of the dynamics and sectors present in the entities. It also considers the ability to compete successfully in the economy, especially in sectors with high added value, knowledge and state-of-the-art technology.

The ICE also assesses the ability to generate and apply new knowledge, the research context and the generation of patents.
