China Southern Airlines launches first flight to Mexico

Chinese air carrier Southern Airlines, the largest in Asia, made its inaugural Canton (Guangzhou)-Mexico City via Vancouver. This is the first route to Mexico operated by a Chinese company, as Aeromexico used to operate the only Shanghai-Mexico City route. China’s interests in Mexico, including tourism and investment, have increased over recent years. During 2016, Mexico received 74, 300 visitors from China and the prospect for this year is to increase this number to 102,000, according to a statement by the Ministry of Tourism.
