Cobots: Boosting manufacturing productivity

According to records from the International Federation of Robotics (IFR), approximately 542,000 industrial robots were installed worldwide in 2024—more than double the average from 10 years ago. Furthermore, the same report indicates that the global installed base of operational robots exceeded 4.6 million units.

In this regard, Mexico also reflects the progress of industrial automation: by 2024, nearly 5,600 industrial robots had been installed in the country, establishing it as one of the most dynamic automation markets in Latin America.

Collaborative robots are emerging as one of the technologies with the greatest growth potential, offering a more flexible and safer way to incorporate automation into various production processes. Unlike traditional industrial robots, these systems are designed to work safely alongside people, enabling the automation of repetitive and precision tasks without the need for complex changes to production lines.

As such, Schneider Electric, a partner in energy technology, has developed solutions to support assembly, inspection, packaging, material handling, and machine support processes in industries such as manufacturing, food and beverage, logistics, electronics, and automotive. Thanks to their capabilities for safe collaboration between people and machines, these technologies enable companies to incorporate automation in a flexible and scalable manner.
