Commercial Vehicle Group reverses plans to shift production to Mexico

Commercial Vehicle Group, a global supplier of complete cab systems in the heavy-duty truck, construction and agricultural equipment industries, announced it reversed its plans aimed to close a manufacturing plant in Monona, Iowa and shift its production to Agua Prieta, Sonora.

La company said the plans changed because of “production challenges with new launches, elevated seasonal orders and a tight labor market in Agua Prieta.”

Last July the company announced it will close a facility in Shadyside, Ohio and the Monona plant, which employed nearly 150 people to produce wire harness electrical systems.

The Shadyside facility performs assembly and stamping activities and has approximately 172 employees.

The activities performed at the Shadyside facility will be transferred to alternative facilities or sourced to local suppliers.

The closure of the Shadyside facility is expected to be substantially completed by June 30, 2017.
