CRT Begins Registration for Mexico’s First Industrial 5G Auction

The Telecommunications Regulatory Commission (CRT) will open the expression of interest phase in October for companies seeking to participate in Mexico’s first radio spectrum auction for industrial smart grids.

The auction will allow companies and specialized suppliers to apply for radio frequencies to develop connectivity projects across productive sectors.

The registration period will close in October, after which the process will proceed exclusively through the Dynamic Spectrum Auction Platform, in accordance with the schedule established in the terms and conditions of Public Tender CRT-RRI-01-2026.

The authority will make up to 60 MHz of spectrum in the 1.3 GHz band available to the market, initially allocated across 72 strategic industrial regions nationwide.

The frequencies are intended to support private radio communication networks that connect machinery, sensors, vehicles, and control systems, while enabling automation, remote monitoring, and real-time data processing.

The call for proposals targets projects in sectors such as manufacturing, logistics, mining, energy, ports, agribusiness, and industrial parks, where connectivity requirements may call for specialized networks.
