DHL Supply Chain to start operations in Silao and Chihuahua

SILAO – The DHL Supply Chain division will start operating two new cross-docking complexes in Silao, Guanajuato, and Chihuahua, bringing the total number of cross-docking complexes in the country to 11.

According to DHL Mexico, the addition of the two sites will help meet the growing volume of industrial transportation in Silao and Chihuahua, supporting last-mile transportation, reducing costs by up to 25%. The Silao site is located within Guanajuato Puerto Interior, with an area of more than 5,000 square meters.

It is worth mentioning that DHL has invested in Mexico since mid-2020 to incorporate fleets of SPEC hybrid vans, which are also expected to enter into operation at cross-docking sites during 2021.

Cross-docking is a logistics technique that involves transferring shipments from the inbound to the outbound mode of transport without intermediate storage. The advantages of cross-docking include improving efficiency and productivity within the supply chain, as well as reducing warehousing, distribution, inventory and personnel costs.
