Electric and hybrid car market grows by 29.9% in Queretaro

QUERETARO - Electromobility is gaining importance in Queretaro with a notable growth of 29.9% in the green vehicle market, marking a milestone in the adoption of sustainable technologies.

From January to May 2023, 430 electric, hybrid and plug-in hybrid vehicles were sold in the entity, reflecting an increase of 29.9% compared to the 331 units sold in the same period of 2022.

However, in the same months of 2022 sales decreased by 24.3% compared to 2021 when 437 cars were sold.

Of the cars sold from January to May of this year, by type of unit, electric cars reported the predominant growth of 76.3%, climbing from 38 vehicles sold in the first five months of 2022 to 67 in the same period of this year.

Next, sales of plug-in hybrids increased by 31.3%, from 61 vehicles sold in the first five months of 2022 to 80 this year.

Meanwhile, the sale of hybrid cars increased by 22% in the last year, from 232 units in the previous year to 283 in 2023.

Among the 430 hybrid, plug-in hybrid and electric vehicles placed from January to May of this year: 65.8% (283) were hybrids, 18.6% (80) plug-in hybrids and 15.6% (67) electric.
