Executives from the Missouri-based manufacturing company Electrical Components International, Inc. (ECI), recently broke ground at the municipality of Tequisquiapan, Queretaro to build what would be its first production facility in the state, but twelfth overall in Mexico.
The developer and producer of wire harnesses, subassemblies and electro-mechanical assemblies plans to invest US$8.8 million for this operation aimed to supply components for manufacturers from different sectors.
ECI plans to start up operations with a 140-strong workforce which will eventually grow up to 3,200 over a 5-year span.
The ceremony was attended by state officials who thanked the company for investing in Queretaro, “which is a wise business decision,” said Governor Francisco Dominguez Servien.
The company operates six manufacturing plants in Ciudad Juarez and three more in Chihuahua state capital. Two more plants are expected to officially open in Juarez during this year, one of which is already running, MexicoNow has learned.
