European Investment Bank shows interest in the Tehuantepec Isthmus

MEXICO — The European Investment Bank announced its interest in the Tehuantepec Isthmus Corridor project, in which resources are estimated at US$ 13.5 billion, in addition to the creation of 10 industrial parks.

Rafael Marín Mollinedo, general director of the Interoceanic Corridor of the Isthmus of Tehuantepec (CIIT), stressed that a development plan was presented to Werner Hoyer, president of the European Investment Bank, who showed interest in the project, so a commission from the lending institution will arrive in Mexico to analyze the proposal and seek business opportunities.

Marín Mollinedo finally added that national industry and investment will be promoted in the corridor and as a consequence, meetings have already been held with different participants that seek operate particularly within the 10 industrial parks that will be built; the investment amount hasn’t been disclosed yet.
