Faurecia conducted today a ribbon-cutting ceremony at a facility located in the municipality of Huejotzingo, Puebla, where the company added production lines to manufacture decoration accessories for seats and steering wheels.

The company created 200 jobs as result of this expansion, which is part of a US$ 200 million investment plan that will benefit most of the 15 plants Faurecia operates in Mexico. Out of that figure, US$ 33 million have been invested in Puebla alone, said Donald Hampton, President of Faurecia Interiors North America, at the ceremony.

Along with the 200 jobs opening at this facility, an additional 100 positions related to this operation will open at Faurecia’s Research and Development center located in the municipality of Cuautlancingo, Puebla.

The expansion added 107,000 square-feet to more than double the footprint of Faurecia in Huejotzingo. This is the first production site out of the European Union to feature certain decoration processes and products oriented for premium auto manufacturers.

Rumors on site referred the components built at this facility will be supplied for Tesla and Lincoln assembly plants but company officials declined to confirm this version.
