Ford trademarks Mach E name, likely for upcoming electric crossover
Ford Motor Company has registered two new names––Mach E and Mach-E––to the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) to be used in its upcoming “Mustang-inspired” electric vehicle, Ford Authority has learned.
“Filed on November 26, 2018, the applications specify that the marks will be used in conjunction with the following goods and services category: Motor vehicles, namely, electric vehicles, passenger automobiles, trucks, sport utility vehicles, off-road vehicles, as well as structural parts, fittings, and badges therefor, and metal license plate frames,” says the report.
The vehicle will debut in 2020 and will be one of 16 electric models the company plans to release by 2022. Production of the crossover will be deployed in the Ford Cuautitlan Assembly and Stamping Plant, just North of Mexico City.
