Geely: driving development of intelligent mobility technology

The automaker Geely no longer wants to simply sell cars in Mexico, so the company announced a partnership with Tecnologico de Monterrey that will drive innovation and engineering in the country by providing the company’s technology to strengthen the institution’s research programs.

To achieve this goal, the company is investing US$228,000, which will be focused on developing autonomous mobility projects, conducting research, and lending Geely EX5 EM-i vehicles, with the aim of strengthening the training of new generations of engineers, researchers, and specialists.

The partnership was made possible by Bloom Drive Intelligence: an initiative of the School of Engineering and Sciences at Tecnologico de Monterrey, focused on developing solutions for autonomous and smart mobility.

Geely will also contribute by participating in two additional projects representative of the institutional initiative: the first is the Autonomous Minibus, designed for urban environments and currently undergoing testing in locations such as San Pedro Garza and Monterrey; and the second is “El Fantastico,” a vehicle that uses artificial intelligence and cameras to collect road data.

In addition to expecting rapid growth, the company aims to join the list of the 10 best-selling automakers in the country. As of today, it ranks eleventh.
