Germany-based Willi Elbe Manufacturing starts operations in Guanajuato

Germany-based steering technology supplier Willi Elbe Manufacturing started operations in recent days at a 4,800 square-meters production facility in Valle de Santiago, Guanajuato.

The company invested US$ 12 million and recruited a few dozen workers for its starting phase. According to company officials the investment will reach eventually US$ 25 million and a workforce of 200 in the coming years.

The company manufactures steering components aimed for automakers from the premium segment. BMW, Mercedes Benz and Volkswagen -including its Porsche and Audi subsidiaries- figure among its customers’ portfolio.

This new Willi Elbe plant is the company’s first in the Americas, other production facilities are located in Germany, Norway, Switzerland, Bulgaria and China.
