GM outperformed Nissan as the largest auto exporter

General Motors (GM) rebounded as the largest automotive exporter in Mexico so far this year, surpassing Nissan. This effect shall increase with the addition of the Equinox and Terrain models assembly at the San Luis Potosi (SLP) plant, which will be exported to the U.S., Canada, Central and South America. GM exported 240,281 vehicles from January to May, that is 18.7% up from 2016. In the light truck segment, Chevrolet Silverado 2500 is the second most exported unit, while the GMC Sierra occupies the fourth place. The SUV Trax has grown exports to South America an average of 30%.
