Grupo Modelo announced a new investment of US$71 million to increase the capacity of its Yucatan Brewing plant, from 5 to 7 million hectoliters per year. Mauricio Leyva, General Director of Grupo Modelo, informed that this will enable the plant for a 40% expansion during the first semester of 2017. Additionally, there was an announcement that Modelo will inaugurate its Yucatan brewery in record time, producing again the two Yucatan brands of the Group: Montejo and Leon Negra. In January 2015, Grupo Modelo announced this investment for its Cerveceria Yucateca, which is going to be the eighth plant of the Company, and will generate nearly 700 jobs in its construction stage and 400 jobs in its operational stage.
