Guanajuato Allocates US$630 Million for Data Centers

Guanajuato is currently building three data center projects, which represent a total investment of US$630 million, and are expected to create more than 200 direct jobs, according to information shared by the state government.

Currently, there are two data centers operating in the state, in addition to one that is under development in the municipality of San Miguel de Allende. Two of these projects are from ODATA, a company within the Aligned Data Centers group, located in the municipalities of San Miguel de Allende and Apaseo el Grande.

As part of the infrastructure needed for this type of investment, the construction of a new electrical substation in the San Miguel de Allende Business Park (PESMA) was promoted, with a capacity of 60 MVAs and an investment of more than US$45 million.

Economy Secretary Cristina Villaseñor noted that the integration of information technologies—including data centers, artificial intelligence, and semiconductors—is part of the transformation currently taking place in the global economy.

According to the state government, the restructuring of supply chains and the accelerated adoption of artificial intelligence are changing the competitive landscape among regions, and the state therefore hopes to enhance its competitive edge.

As of today, Guanajuato has achieved 81.9% of its six-year goal of US$8,000 million, with cumulative investment exceeding US$6,556 million.
