Guanajuato and Guerrero Are Investing in Road Infrastructure

The governments of Guanajuato and Guerrero have allocated US$2.6 million for highway projects, including the improvement of 5.75 km of the Manuel Doblado-Puerta de San Juan highway, as well as the construction of a vehicular bridge in Ayutla de los Libres.

In Guanajuato, the Department of Public Works (SOP) typically invests US$1.6 million on a regular basis in the maintenance of the Manuel Doblado-Puerta de San Juan highway.

The work includes milling the road surface, excavating cuts, laying the subbase and asphalt surface course, applying a sealing coat, and painting road markings. As of today, the project is 31.9% complete, and construction is projected to be completed in November.

The head of the SOP, Juan Pablo Perez Beltran, emphasized that 33,438 residents have directly benefited from the project, in addition to improvements in traffic flow for 2,711 vehicles. According to state data, the agency continues its ongoing initiative to maintain the 2,600 km that make up the state highway network.

In Guerrero, the Guerrero State Highway and Airport Infrastructure Commission (CICAEG) is constructing the Rio Velero vehicular bridge in the municipality of Ayutla de los Libres, with an investment of US$1.07 million from the Social Infrastructure Fund for States (FISE).

The project benefits 4,280 residents and has a total length of 75.10 meters and a width of 6 meters, restoring vehicular access to the town of Rio Velero and improving transportation conditions in the area.

The work involves the construction of embankments and access roads, a hydraulic base, foundations, columns, end caps, and eaves, as well as a superstructure consisting of 12 prestressed concrete girders, along with access slabs, curbs, metal guardrails, abutments, and road signage.
