Guanajuato is the fifth fastest-growing state in auto parts production

GUANAJUATO - According to data from the National Auto Parts Industry (INA), Guanajuato is positioned as the fifth state with the highest growth in auto parts production in Mexico. This progress is compared between the first quarter of 2024 and the same period of 2023.

In a recent press conference, INA revealed the states with the highest growth in auto parts production: Yucatan: 52.25%, Zacatecas: 19.66%, San Luis Potosi: 15.84%, Durango: 14.08% and Guanajuato: 13.52%.

On the other hand, INA also highlighted that Mexico continues to reach historic records in the production of auto parts. In February 2024 alone, the production value exceeded 10.3 billion dollars, representing an increase of 13.15% compared to February 2023.

The North, Bajío and Central regions of the country account for around 95% of total production, with Coahuila, Guanajuato and Nuevo León leading this sector. 

During the first quarter of 2024, Guanajuato consolidated its position as the state with the second largest auto parts production in Mexico. It contributed 13.8% of the national total, surpassed only by Coahuila, which contributed 15%.

Other states that stand out in this sector are Nuevo León with 12.7%, Chihuahua with 8.5% and Querétaro with 8%.

According to INA, Mexico's northern region led auto parts production in the first quarter of 2024, representing 43.5% of the national total, with a valuation of US$13.57 billion.

The Bajio zone also followed with 36%, equivalent to 11.227 billion dollars, while the central region contributed 15.5%, valued at US$4.8 billion. The rest of the country produced 5% of total auto parts.
