Heavy truck sales fall 10.1% during September in the Mexican market
Sales of heavy trucks in the Mexican market totaled 3,285 units, during September, a 10.1% decrease compared to same month of 2016, Mexican Auto Dealers Association (AMDA) reported. It was the fourth month this year with negative figures.
The September figure is also 27% lower compared to 4,505 trucks sold in the same period of 2007, which is the best result for a ninth month of the year ever, Guillermo Rosales, AMDA deputy director said.
Sales in the passenger segment (buses) dropped 14% to 652 vehicles, tractors fell 10.1% to 1,444 units and trucks decreased 7.8% to 1,189 vehicles.
September also marked the first month with lower sales on a year-to-date basis. From January through September sales totaled 28,482 units, 100 vehicles less or a 0.3% decrease compared to the same nine-month period of 2016.
