How did cargo traffic for railways close during 2018?

MEXICO — During 2018 railway networks reported a mixed behavior in cargo movement, since three of them, finished with increases and the rest with falls, with respect to 2017.
Thus, the Coahuila Durango Line reported the highest growth in the year, accumulating 3, 459,000 tons, 7% more than the 3, 244,000 tons of the previous year, according to the monthly figures of Secretaría de Comunicaciones y Transportes. (SCT).
Ferromex followed with an increase of 6% when comparing the 61, 789,000 tons of 2018 compared to the 58, 323,000 tons of the year that preceded it.
For its part, Kansas City Southern de Mexico was the one that reported the lowest increase, 1%, at the end of the year with 43, 607,000 tons compared to 43, 053,000 tons of the previous year, according to figures from the SCT.
Regarding the companies that closed down, the one that had a greater decrease was Ferrosur, after concluding the year with 15, 926,000 tons, a difference of -16% against the 18, 876,000 tons of 2017. It was followed by with a 14% decrease when comparing the 164,000 tons of 2018 compared to 190,000 tons of the previous year.
