HS HYOSUNG will invest in San Luis Potosí
HS HYOSUNG has announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the government of the state of San Luis Potosí. The signing took place during a ceremony held at the World Trade Center in Mexico City as part of the Korea-Mexico Business Forum, during the Korean economic delegation’s visit to Mexico.
The event was attended by senior government officials, including Marcelo Ebrard, Mexico’s Secretary of Economy, and Mario García Valdez, Secretary of Economic Development for San Luis Potosí.
During this meeting, both parties reaffirmed their commitment to supporting HS HYOSUNG’s local investment and regional expansion. The company’s executive team also held a separate bilateral meeting with Secretary Ebrard to discuss in detail its strategic vision and investment plans.
Under the agreement, HS HYOSUNG plans to gradually increase its investments in San Luis Potosí starting in 2027. Through this project, the company aims to establish a strategic production center for advanced materials, thereby strengthening its supply capabilities for the North American and other global markets.
Nak-yang Sung, CEO of HS HYOSUNG ADVANCED MATERIALS, stated: “This investment goes beyond simply establishing a manufacturing base; it reflects our strategy to make Mexico a strategic hub connecting North America with global supply networks. We are also committed to strengthening local supply chains and creating high-quality jobs to directly contribute to the region’s industrial ecosystem.”
HS HYOSUNG is responsible for producing advanced materials for various industries, including tire cord—one of its flagship products and a global leader—as well as solutions for mobility, energy, aerospace, and defense. In North America, including Mexico and the United States, HS HYOSUNG manufactures tire cord, airbag materials, and automotive interior components, and supplies products to global leaders such as General Motors (GM) and Goodyear, while maintaining a highly reliable global supply chain.
