IKEA expands its online store in the Bajío Zone

MEXICO – IKEA, the Swedish furniture and home furnishings chain, will expand the delivery coverage of its online store to the cities of Leon, Guanajuato, and the city of San Luis Potosi, in September of this year.

With this expansion of its delivery radius, the company expects to grow its sales volume in Mexico by 4%.

"We reinforce our brand's strategy of growth and outreach by offering items in more markets," the firm said in a statement.

These routes are in addition to the current coverage in Mexico City, State of Mexico, Jalisco, Morelos, Puebla, Hidalgo, Queretaro, Coahuila and Nuevo Leon.

The Swedish chain opened its first store in Mexico in March 2021 and is located in the Encuentro Oceania shopping center in the east of the country's capital.

In the midst of inflationary rises and failures in the logistics chain that have affected inventories, the Swedish retailer has looked for alternatives, such as seeking local suppliers to reduce waiting times and transportation costs for the goods it imports from Europe and Asia.

IKEA has opted to purchase products made in Mexico, such as mattresses and beds, which are manufactured in Saltillo, Coahuila, in a plant that is in the process of increasing its production capacity.
