Toyota to produce Corolla new generation in 2019

Toyota Motor Sales Mexico started the construction of its second plant in Mexico, with an investment valued at US$1 billion, to produce the new generation of the compact vehicle Corolla 2019, mainly for the Mexican market, thus generating 2,000 direct jobs. It is expected to be ready by 2019, in order to start the production of the new compact vehicle. Mike Bafan, Director of the Toyota plants in Baja California and Guanajuato, assured that this will be the first plant that features the TNGA process, which incorporates production in a smaller space, new technologies to lower costs and manufacture vehicles with greater fuel efficiency, without implying that this process would replace labor force.
