Mercedes-Benz develops new A-Class sedan likely to be built in Mexico

Mercedes-Benz is planning to introduce a new entry-level A-Class sedan to North America, China, and other global markets, according to a report from Autocar site. The compact sedan will slot between the CLA and C-Class sedans in the German automaker’s lineup.

No official confirmation of the new Mercedes saloon model has been made. However, Autocar has been told it could arrive in showrooms before the end of 2018 – the same year earmarked for the introduction of the fourth-generation A-Class hatchback.

While details remain scarce, production of the A-Class is expected to take place in up to three factories, including Mercedes-Benz’s Kecskemet plant in Hungary, a joint-venture plant between Daimler and Beijing Automotive Industry Corporation (BAIC) in China and a new facility being constructed by a Daimler-Nissan/Infiniti joint-venture in Aguascalientes, Mexico.
