In 2017, Audi assembled 158,550 Q5 SUVs in its first full year of operations at the new plant in San Jose Chiapa, Puebla, the company confirmed in a statement. This volume exceeds by 5.7% the company's 2017 production goal, which was 150,000 units.

Earlier this month a union leader revealed to local media that Audi workers in Puebla were granted an additional day off in January for fulfilling the company’s goal.

"This achievement is due in particular to our committed employees who, according to the plan, have surpassed the goal of 150,000 Audi Q5," said Peter Kössler, member of the Production and Logistics Board of AUDI AG.

The Puebla-made vehicle was Audi’s best-selling model in the United States during 2017 with 57,640 units, which represented a 16.3% hike. Last year Audi sold a total 226,511 cars and SUVs in the U.S. market, so basically, one in four vehicles was a Q5.
