Seaports operator SSA Mexico announced that its new Specialized Car Terminal (TEA), located in the Port of Lazaro Cardenas, Michoacan, formally initiated operations with the arrival of the first two car carriers, contributing for the first time through this infrastructure to solve the needs of the automotive industry in the Mexican Pacific.

Last week, two vessels of the shipping company K Line, Helios Highway and Hyperion Highway, arrived at the port with 2,420 and 2,767 units on board, respectively.

The ships transported cars of the Toyota, General Motors, Suzuki, Daimler, Honda, Hino, Isuzu and Nissan brands, as well as heavy machinery.

This new maritime terminal, where the company invested around US$ 50 million during its first stage, has a capacity to mobilize more than 700,000 vehicles per year.

The TEA is a world class project whose first phase covers an area of 21 hectares. It is the only one with exclusive docks for RoRo vessels (Roll On-Roll Off) through a 600-meter berth line with three positions, which responds to the demand for global port infrastructure.
