Tennessee-based engineered plastics manufacturer Techmer PM today inaugurated a 60,000 sq.-ft compounding plant in Queretaro, Mexico.

The facility, which started operations last November, will help meet growing demand for color, additives, and engineered compounds in key Latin American markets.

The company plans to hire about 100 employees in the next three to five years and the plant is expected to double its size to 120,000 square feet within the next two years. There’s already two lines running at the plant while two more will be operational by the end of the year.

Techmer PM expects that, going forward, about 60 to 70% of materials developed at the Queretaro facility will be purchased by customers in Mexico. The rest will be exported to other Latin American countries.

Customers span the automotive, agriculture, packaging, fibers, and nonwovens sectors, as well as new markets such as 3-D printing.
