As the San Luis Potosi plant is being finished, BMW is at the final stages of road-testing the 2019 3 Series. Several specialized news outlets have posted images of the unit rolling in the streets of Germany with light camouflage and its definitive production body.

Some media reports say the next-gen 3 Series will be unveiled in October, at the Paris Auto Show, and it's expected to go on sale in the second half of 2019, to compete with the Mercedes-Benz C-Class and the Audi A4.

The next-gen 3 Series not only looks bigger than its predecessor, but it’s expected to weight around 40 kilograms less than the one before since it’ll be built in the CLAR platform, which is used in the 5 Series.

First pre-production models are expected to roll out of the San Luis Potosi plant in September, with official production scheduled to begin in the first quarter of 2019, if no major tweaks are required.
