Mercedes Benz Buses announced that in the next few months it will introduce 100% electric units to the Mexican market, with the capital of the country being the first location where these vehicles will enter into operation.

The Director of Sales, Marketing and Post Sale of Mercedes Benz Buses, Raul Gonzalez, revealed that the company is about to conclude the talks with the government of Mexico City, to replace with buses from the eCitaro line the current electric transport known as trolleybuses.

Gonzalez said that the buses will have an average of 150-kilometer autonomy and the recharge will be carried out in the yards at night, although some infrastructure will also be developed to recharge the units quickly.

For this purpose, Mercedes Benz has already begun to train and certify its Mexican technicians, since they will no longer only be specialized in mechanical aspects, but also electrical, he said.

Although they still do not know how many units the first stage of electric buses will be formed, the manager trusted that this project will be extended to other states of the country, in such a way that Mercedes Benz is ready to supply the country with sustainable mobility.
