General Motors announced that first units of the all-new 2019 GMC Sierra Denali just started to roll into showrooms across de U.S. market to strengthen the company’s position in the premium truck segment.

“GMC ignited the premium truck market 17 years ago with the launch of the Sierra Denali and the next-generation model sets a new standard with unparalleled advancements and exclusive design,” said Rich Latek, marketing director of GMC. “It offers more upscale appointments, purposeful technologies and capability - solidifying Denali as the ultimate in professional grade.”

The new Sierra Denali is offered as a crew cab, with nearly three inches of additional rear-seat legroom compared to the previous model. The unit affirms its position as the most premium Sierra ever, with segment-leading technologies and exclusive features, including a longer wheelbase, a new tailgate that can be configured into six different positions and a new optional carbon fiber pickup box.

Denali models feature exclusive upgrades, including a bolder front fascia, adaptive ride control for better body control, and genuine open-pore ash wood trim and dark-finish aluminum inside the cabin.

Other features include heated and ventilated seats, an 8-inch touchscreen, standard 20-inch aluminum wheels or available 22-inch wheels, a head-up display and rear camera mirror display.

The Denali will be available in crew cab configuration, with a choice of rear-wheel or four-wheel drive. The standard Denali engine is the 5.3-liter V-8 paired to an eight-speed automatic, but on four-wheel-drive models, buyers can instead choose the 420-hp 6.2-liter V-8 paired to a 10-speed automatic. A 3.0-liter turbodiesel paired to a 10-speed automatic will also join the Sierra lineup eventually.

Crew cab versions of both Silverado and GMC Sierra (with four large doors) are built in Silao, Guanajuato while regular and double cab pickups are made in Fort Wayne, Indiana.

According to Autonews, the redesign and re-engineering of the next Chevrolet Silverado and its sibling the GMC Sierra, are the biggest product program ever undertaken by GM. The company is spending nearly US$3 billion just to upgrade the plants that will build those trucks.
